Terming the rape incidents at Jammu and Delhi as shameful, Hurriyat Conference (M) spokesman said such barbarous acts were against humanity and should be condemned in strongest possible terms.

Spokesman said that the widespread public reactions over the shameful act were justified as were the condemnations of the Indian civil society and Parliamentarians.

However, the spokesman said it also reflected the dual standards of Indian civil society and Parliament as both of them have attained a criminal silence over the rape incidents which occurred in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two decades.

The spokesman said that Jammu and Kashmir has been the worst victim of human rights violations committed by the Indian troops. It includes violence against women including rape, extra judicial killings, custodial killings, torture and other forms of rights violations.

“But, the religious and democratic Indian public had remain silent over such barbarous acts committed by the troops of their country in Jammu and Kashmir,” spokesman said.

“It is highly upsetting for Kashmiris. It is a cause of concern for Kashmiris as to why the Indian public, intelligentsia and civil society have attained a criminal silence,” he added. Spokesman asserted that the rape accused in Delhi and Jammu should be brought to justice, adding, the people who were involved in the savagely acts of rape in Kunan Poshpura, Shopian and other hundreds of such cases over the past two decades should also be punished by calling an impartial probe into the rape incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reacting to the recent statement of NC leader Mustafa Kamal regarding the APHC visit to Pakistan, spokesman said that Kamal has continued with his rhetorical hollow statements. The spokesman made it clear to the NC leader that it would be better that if he give statements regarding the NC politics of loyalty to India and its constitution and repeating of statements like ‘Kashmir as integral part of India’ by the NC to remain in the politics.

Spokesman made it clear that it was due to the amateur politics and anti-Kashmir policy of the founding father of NC which became the main cause of sufferings for the Kashmiris.  He said that the hands of NC leaders were smeared with the blood of innocent and suppressed Kashmiris.  And to till date, he said that rights violations continue in Kashmir which is the direct result of pro-Indian stance of NC. The spokesman said that APHC was an internationally recognized representative organization of Kashmiris.
