Paying glowing tributes to those killed in Khanyar, Srinagar on their 27th death anniversary, Hurriyat (M) chairman on Tuesday said that exactly 27 years ago on this day 25 unarmed innocent people were killed by the government forces by resorting to indiscriminate firing and leaving dozens of others seriously wounded.

On the directions of incarcerated APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation comprising Mehrajudin Choo, Muhammad Syed Deedamari, Advocate Yasir Dalal, Farooq Ahmed, Sahil Ahmed War,  Khateeb of famous shrine of Khanyar Moulvi Nazir Ahmed Qadiri besides many prominent faces of trader fraternity offered Fateh khawani for the slain Khanyar victims. The delegation said that the mission of “martyrs” would be taken to its logical conclusion and asked people to remain steadfast till the ongoing movement reaches its goal.

The delegation strongly condemned the forces highhandedness in Shopian and other south Kashmir districts and imposition of strict curfew in the majority of downtown areas. The delegation expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

The delegation also strongly condemned the continuous house detention of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other resistance leaders terming it as a political vendetta.
