The Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday said the role of United Nations regarding the non-implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir dispute has been extremely regrettable.

According to a statement issued to KNS, a spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) has said that in order to divert the attention of local international bodies towards the pending resolutions of Kashmir, Hurriyat would organize a seminar, “Kashmir issue and UN insensitivity” on January 5, 2014, Sunday at hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh.

Highlighting the significance of UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir issue, the APHC statement said the resolutions provide legal basis to the Kashmir dispute and hence their importance can’t be overlooked.

The hurriyat statement said that in 1949, the UN passed resolutions and gave Kashmiris the right to determine their future. However, the UN has so far been unable to implement its resolutions on Kashmir issue which has posed a question mark on the world body as to how effective it was.

The statement has stressed upon the Indian intellectuals and civil society to press their government to solve the Kashmir issue for once and all according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.
