SRINAGAR

To raise a forceful voice and to protest against the deplorable decision of the closure of Pathribal fake encounter case by the Army, Hurriyat Conference (M) has charted out a week long programme which includes a joint emergency meeting of its executive council, general council and working committee.

According to a statement issued to KNS, “On Monday 27th January 2014, the Hurriyat has further decided to organize a seminar at Hurriyat Headquarters on Wednesday 29th January 2014 to have serious deliberations in order to analyze the far reaching outcome and effects of this decision. Besides Hurriyat leadership eminent political thinkers and legal experts are expected to express their views in the seminar.”

The spokesman of Hurriyat (M) has further decided to hold protest demonstrations in length and breadth of Kashmir on Friday 31st January 2014 to protest against the Pathribal case decision and has appealed to the Imams of All Masajid, Imam Barghas and Astans (Shrines) to raise voice against this injustice on the occasion of Fridaycongregations. It has further been decided that the leadership of Hurriyat Conference will lead the protest demonstrations at selected places on the day to protest against the continuous imposition of Black laws like Armed Forces Special Power Act. (AFSPA) which was being used as a cover to provide immunity to government forces for the atrocities and acts of killing committed by them.

In the meantime while expressing his deep anguish and astonishment the Hurriyat spokesman has highly denounced the army’s decision to strangulate the process of justice by closing the case against the Pathribal fake encounter culprits. The spokesman has further said that the people of Kashmir had already a suspicion to this effect which was expressed in the statements of Hurriyat Chairman Dr. Mohammad Umar Farooq and who has described it as murder of justice with the sword of AFSPA.

The spokesman has said that one sided decision of the army court throwing all norms of justice and fair play to wind has created wide spread anger among the people of Kashmir and which was natural because under the present system the forces personnel enjoy complete immunity under the provisions of AFSPA for their crimes and this fact has also been endorsed by Amnesty International as well.
