Various delegations called upon Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz, Umar Farooq at his Nageen residence and apprised him about the public issues and day to day problems faced by the people of their respective areas. Mirwaiz apprised them that Hurriyat would play its part in highlighting the public issues faced by the common people as being their representative.

“As the APHC is discharging its active duties in taking forward the freedom struggle by political means, it is also concerned about the day-to-day issues faced by common Kashmiris,” Mirwaiz told the delegations.
According to statement, the delegations appealed Mirwaiz to take steps to bring reforms in society and help in eradicating social ills and growing immoral activities in the society.

“Registering its concern, a delegation from Rainwari Chowk in old city informed Mirwaiz that the administration has undertaken widening of the road in the area, but during the process it was demolishing shops, thus rendering scores of people jobless,” the statement said.

Adding to their woes, the delegates from Rainawari chowk told the APHC Chairman that government was paying less compensation compared to the loss of their property during the road widening process.

“A delegation from Umar Colony, Lal Bazaar complained to Mirwaiz about the non availability of gas, electricity and water in the area,” the statement said. They further said there was shortage of essential items in the market and their prices were sky rocketing.
