SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a hybrid militant linked with proscribed outfit Al-Badr and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.

A police spokesman in a statement said that on specific information regarding the movement of militants in Beigund, Awantipora, Police alongwith Army (42RR) & CRPF (130Bn) established a joint checkpoint in the said area.

The spokesman in a statement said that during checking, one hybrid militant identified as Aamir Ahmed Parray son of Abdul Rashid Parray resident of Kashwa Chitragam, Shopian, linked with proscribed outfit Al-Badr was arrested.

“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including a pistol & 4 pistol rounds were recovered from his possession,” he said.

“In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation has been initiated,” said police spokesman in a statement.
