Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, today convened a meeting took a review the Horticulture sector in the district Budgam.

Identify potential area for walnut, almond plantation in Budgam: Dir Horticulture to Officers

During the meeting, component-wise Action Plan 2019-20 of all developmental schemes in terms of Physical and financial achievements were discussed. Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam was asked to maintain the standard of developmental works.

Director Horticulture stressed upon the officers for achieving the earmarked targets within stipulated time frame. He also instructed all the Horticulture Development officers to identify the potential area for walnut and almond plantation keeping in view the feasibility of the area.

All zonal level officers were directed to maintain a close liaison with the growers/orchardists, so that they get timely technical knowhow about orchard management and other benefits of developmental schemes.

Further the issue regarding providing of land for establishment of nurseries in the district was taken up with District Development Commissioner Budgam.

During the course of meeting I/C nurseries were directed to work with zeal and dedication so that quality plant material is produced in the departmental nurseries for its distribution among the farmers.

Further Chief Horticulture officer was directed to make the Canning Centre functional within one week so that the unemployed youths can get short term training course in the art of fruit preservation.

It was given out that one fruit village at Khag Budgam has been approved under Capex Budget and instructions were given to take up the proposed activities so that earmarked funds will be utilized during current financial year. Concerned officers were directed to identify the Nakh Village to be developed in the Budgam district and a proposal in this regard be furnished immediately.
