SRINAGAR: Army on Wednesday claimed to have killed three militants including an IED expert in Kangan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Army’s Srinagar based spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia in a statement said three JeM militants including an IED expert have been killed in the encounter.
He said that the gunfight broke out after joint team of army and police launched search operation in the early hours today on specific input.
He said that contact established in the morning with the hiding militants and announcements were made for militants to surrender.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off the encounter resulting in killing of the three militants.
However, he said, the identity of the slain militants were yet to be ascertained.
