SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Sujit Kumar on Friday reviewed security and other arrangements for the upcoming annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA) at Charar-i-Sharief in Budgam district.
Accompanied by police officers, the IGP assessed preparations for the religious gathering, which draws thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Kumar said various departments were coordinating to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Urs. He acknowledged the joint efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and civil administration.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made. All wings, including Police, CRPF, Health, Fire & Emergency Services, are working together on ground, he said.
Kumar also offered prayers at the shrine, seeking peace, prosperity and progress for Jammu and Kashmir, along with the well-being of the police force.
The annual Urs of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), revered as Hazrat Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani, is observed with religious devotion at Charar-i-Sharief and attracts worshippers from across the Union Territory.
