SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police seized property belonging to drug peddlers in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir on Wednesday.

An official said that in a significant development, the police in Baramulla attached properties worth approximately Rs 60 Lakhs, belonging to ‘notorious’ drug peddlers Mohd Ayoob Shah and Ghulam Mohammad Shah, alias Gulshah.

“Both individuals are sons of Abdul Khaliq and residents of Ladoora Rafiabad, District Baramulla. The action taken by the police falls under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act of 1985 and is linked to the case FIR No. 18/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Baramulla,” he said.

During the course of the investigation and inquiry conducted by the police, these properties were identified as illegally acquired. “It is believed that the properties were acquired through the illicit trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances by the drug peddlers,” he added. (KS)
