SRINAGAR: Authorities on Tuesday demolished two illegally constructed shops at Drinen in Qazigund during a joint operation by the Revenue Department Anantnag and Kulgam Police as part of action against a wanted drug peddler and encroachments on state land.
Officials said the structures, raised on state land by Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Jamal Sheikh, a resident of Drinen, were razed during the drive. The operation was conducted peacefully without any law and order disturbance.
Police said the accused is involved in multiple criminal cases, including FIR No. 150/2018, 251/2020, 87/2020 and 101/2023, besides several other cases related to stone-pelting and local offences.
Authorities said the action forms part of continued efforts to curb illegal activities and enforce law and order in the region.
