Acting on specific information, a team of forest officials of Doodganga Range laid a Naka and sized illicit timber on the intervening night of October 30 and 31.

llicit timber seized in central Kashmir’s Budgam

The party immediately tried to apprehend the smugglers who however assaulted the forest personnel with sharp-edged weapons in which one forest official got injured. The party was able to seize one horse and illicit timber of 11.93 cfts. Reportedly, the timber has been smuggled from bordering forests of Shopian Forest Division.

The smugglers managed to escape from the spot along with one horse taking advantage of darkness. Illicit timber & seized horse has been brought down to OB post-Budgam.

The identification of involved culprits is under investigation.
