Muhammad Ashraf Sheikh, who leads prayers at Jamia Masjid Jadeed Nadihal in North Kashmir was Sunday morning attacked by unknown people in Panzalla area. He was later found in a pool of blood in a nallah.

According to police officials, Sheikh, who is in his late twenties was attacked and critically injured by some unknown people today morning at around 5:30 when he was on way to the Masjid for morning prayers.

The injured was shifted to District Hospital Baramulla where from he has been referred to SKIMS, Srinagar for further treatment.

Police has registered FIR number 1of 2017 under section 341,307, 323 in Police Station Panzalla and investigation has been taken up to identify and nab the culprits
