Imam’s Murder Case: Minor Son Killed Father, say Police

Son of the deceased local Imam has been arrested in the blind murder case, police said on Saturday.

The 46 year old Imam, Abdul Hameed Malik, son of Gulam Rasool Malik, who led prayers in Masjid Sharief of Bragam area in Dooru Shahabad was found dead in his fields lat Tuesday.

Police had lodged an FIR under section 302 and started investigation. “After the initial investigation by questioning the prime suspect (son of the deceased) and examining crime scene it was found that Mohsin Hamid Malik is involved in the Murder,” said SSP Islamabad, Mohammad Jabbar said in a press conference here, “. Later, he confessed the crime.”

“Motive of the murder has been found as marital discourse between the parents,” the top cop added.

The accused is a 7th standard student and will be prosecuted under juvenile justice act.

People had staged protest and were demanding speedy investigation in the case.

“The speedy investigation would not have been possible if the locals of the area had not cooperated in the investigation,” said SHO Dooru, Imtiyaz Ahmad.

Police said that Mohsin has been shifted to juvenile home at Harwan in Srinagar and will be soon produced before court.
