SRINAGAR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Monday, warning of adverse weather conditions in the Himalayan region.
According to the IMD, isolated places in the three regions are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall, prompting authorities to advise residents to remain vigilant and follow official weather advisories.
The weather office has also forecast heavy rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and parts of the North East during the next two days.
In addition, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Rajasthan, Vidarbha and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday.
The IMD has urged people in affected areas to exercise caution and keep track of official weather updates in view of the possibility of weather-related disruptions.
