The DGP said that during the current year so far 88 militants have been killed in 35 operations and 40 associates who were providing a direct support system to these militants were arrested.

He said that 240 OGWs were also arrested for helping militants by instigating law and order problems and many of them were booked under PSA.

“Pakistan is pushing militants to Jammu and Kashmir, however alert forces at the borders and Jammu and Kashmir Police along with CAPF having great synergy in the hinterlands are thwarting most wicked action planned by the neighbouring country and its handlers,” said Director General of Police J&Ki Dilbag Singh while briefing some media persons at Police Headquarters.

The DGP complimented the forces for successful operations. He said that during the last two weeks, 22 militants were neutralised with cooperation from the people.

“The operations involved the least collateral damages in most of the operations. The J&K Police, Army & CAPF is making all-out efforts in providing a more peaceful atmosphere for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” said DGP.

He said that uniformed forces at the borders are alert and bravely foiling most of such attempts of infiltration.

He added that still a sizeable number of militants get through the rough and tedious terrains along IB and LOC, who perpetrate acts of violence against innocent civilians and Security Forces and get killed by the J&K Police alongwith the CAPFs in the hinterlands.

“A number of Pakistani militants active here are getting killed and leave behind unimpeachable incriminating material to show Pakistan involvement in the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir,” the DGP said.

He said that our efforts and people’s cooperation have yielded good results in keeping our youth away from violence. He said that due to the good teamwork by Army, CAPFs and J&K Police we have succeeded in maintaining peace & order in Jammu Kashmir and the cooperation and support from the People here is commendable

Speaking about the fight against coronavirus, the DGP said that the commitment and dedication shown by our jawans on the ground is praiseworthy.

He said that J&K Police and SFs have shown professionalism in facing many challenges over the past 3 decades and this time around too they have shown courage and determination in facing the challenge of COVID-19 bravely while supporting different agencies in fighting the deadly virus.

He said that many Police personnel who were infected by the virus are recovering. “I hope the officers and jawans of J&K Police will continue to fight the virus and would continue to provide assistance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and simultaneously keep a check on the law & order and on the anti-national activities,” DGP said.
