In a First, Pulwama Hamlet ‘Evacuates’ State Land

In a landmark move, the residents of Tumlihal area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir have voluntarily evacuated the State land measuring about one hundred Kanals, which was used by people for different purposes for decades.

Peoples Democratic Party, Youth President, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, who was present when people evacuated the land, described the decision by people as a “big success and a great achievement for the people” of the district.

“The evacuated land will be developed for the upcoming Fruit Mandi in Tumlihal that will not only increase the business opportunities for the local farmers but will also provide employment opportunity for hundreds of young people of the area,” Para said addressing the villagers on the occasion.

“People of this village have set an example to entire Kashmir valley by giving up the state owned land,” he said and hoped others will follow the suit.

“If by giving up State land which people have occupied illegally, young people of these areas will get employment opportunity. It is win-win situation for everyone,” he asserted.

“The land will be developed on priority basis by the state government and a Fruit Mandi will come on it which will ensure employment opportunities and prosperity for the whole district,” Para, who is Political Analyst in CM’s secretariat, added.
