The Teachers from different zones of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district complained that they have not received salaries from last few months and their files get stuck in the offices for a prolonged time due to non-availability of Zonal Education Officers (ZEO) who were transferred a few months back.

“The failure of the authorities to fill the ZEO posts has hit the functioning of the department at zonal level,” Teachers said.

They said that the zones having vacant posts of ZEOs include Trehgam, Sogam, Kralpora, and Chamkote Zones of the Kupwara district.

Pir Mushtaq Ahmad, President of RET forum Kupwara said that files of many teachers are pending in different zone offices due to non-availability of ZEOs.

He demanded the Government to immediately fulfill posts of zonal education officers (ZEOs), which are lying vacant from months.

He said teachers and student community is facing hardships for different works due to non-availability of ZEOs.

“We went to the CEO (Chief Education Officer) and complained about the same. However no action was taken,” he added.

He appealed Director School Education Kashmir to personally intervene into the matter.
