Proactive measures have been taken to combat any eventuality in the landslide hit areas of district Budgam particularly most vulnerable areas of Tehsil Chadoora and Chrar-i-Sharief.

This was told in a meeting convened today under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Budgam.

The meeting was attended by all the concerned officers and agencies.

Giving details about the arrangements being put in place in this regard, the District Development Commissioner said that as per the survey conducted by field officers and other agencies in the affected areas as many as 88 villages out of 500 villages of district Budgam mostly of Tehsil Chadoora and Chrar-i-Sharief are under the threat of land sliding.

He said temporary shelter camps have been established in various Government institutions and other available buildings at Nagam, Lolipora, Chrar-i-Sharief, Bemina, Waterhaul and Pakherpora. To have better coordination, the affected areas have been distributed in 3 zones, each zone would be looked after by a team of officers consisting of Tehsildar, BDO, ZEO and VLW. The Naib Tehsildars have been directed to assist the team. He said ration, blankets, tents and other edibles have been kept in large quantity at established camps.

District Development Commissioner said that many areas of district Budgam are facing serious threat of landslides and administration has geared it men and machinery to combat any eventuality.
