The three candidates vying for the Ladakh seat are Tashi Gyalson from the BJP, Tsering Namgyal from the Congress, and Independent candidate Haji Hanifa Jan, supported by rebels from the National Conference (NC) and Congress.

Despite the INDIA bloc alliance assigning the Ladakh seat to Congress, internal discord has disrupted the agreement.

The BJP emerged victorious in the 2014 and 2019 elections for this seat.

In 2014, BJP candidate Thupstan Chhewang won in a four-way contest, while in 2019, BJP candidate Jamyang Tsering Namgayal secured the win amidst competition from Congress candidate Rigzin Spalbar and independents Sajjad Kargili and Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai from Kargil.
