SRINAGAR: Showkat Ahmad, professionally a Mason, has left home this morning along with his son to drop him at the school, situated on the opposite side of the river Jhelum in Gandabal area of Batwara.

However, the man is yet to reach his home as the boat in which he was crossing the river Jhelum capsized and left the entire valley, especially the locality in shock.

The people, especially the womenfolk could be seen wailing as the incident left six persons dead and the rescue operation was underway throughout the day to trace three missing persons.

The mother of Showkat Ahmad was seen wailing and crying while searching for her son and grandson—Hazik Showkat.

The mother’s love towards her son and grandson made everyone cry on the occasion as the woman was seen asking people if they saw her ‘Showkat and his son anywhere’. “Is my son at the school? Somebody please let me know,” she cried.

Amidst the wailing and emotional scenes, the woman was immediately taken to the home back where dozens of her relatives and family members were waiting for the traces of their beloved, who drowned in river Jhelum during the incident.(KNO)
