Speaking to reporters in Jammu, DGP Singh stated that 2023 marks a significant milestone as there have been no reported law and order issues throughout the year, effectively reducing them to zero.

Regarding militancy-related incidents, DGP Singh highlighted a remarkable decline, with such incidents decreasing by a factor of 200 compared to past years. The number of innocent civilians killed on various pretexts has also reached an all-time low. Additionally, there have been no killings of security forces in militancy-related incidents, including those on leave.

DGP Singh further revealed a substantial reduction in local militant recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018, 210 local youths joined militant groups, whereas in 2023, only ten young individuals chose the path of militancy, and sadly, six of them lost their lives in encounters. Presently, only four remain involved in such activities.

The DGP expressed his congratulations to the region’s youth for rejecting radicalisation propaganda and opting for peaceful careers. He underscored the ongoing efforts to eliminate militancy from the Union Territory. (KNO)
