SRINAGAR: To pay homage to selection grade constable Abdul Salam who gave his life to fight against militancy in Shopian, a wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines Pulwama.

A police spokesman said that Deputy Inspector General of Police SKR S.P Pani led the police officers and jawans in laying the floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the slain official. Among others, SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam, CO’s of 182 Bn and 183 Bn, DySsP and other officers and jawans were present during the ceremony.
Slain police man is survived by four children, 16 years old Mohammad Sabir, 14 years old Mohammad Vikas, 12 years old daughter Aafreen, 08 years old Mohammad Shakir, aged mother and wife.

As has been reported that some militants fired upon a naka party in the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajpora, which was retaliated, resulting in injuries to SgCt Abdul Salam and SgCt Muneer Ahmad. Both the injured were shifted to 92 Base Hospital Badamibagh Srinagar for treatment where SgCt Abdul Salam succumbed to his injuries.
