SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir experienced a much-awaited relief from its month-long dry spell as two significant western disturbances swept through the region by the end of January, bringing snow and rain. Locals and tourists alike were visibly elated by the snow-covered landscape.

Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chief Ghulam Nabi Azad who arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday accompanied by his wife Shameem Azad, enthusiastically embraced the snow. The couple was spotted having a joyous time crafting a snowman in the lawns of their Srinagar residence.

Taking to social media, Azad expressed his joy and enthusiasm for the snowy surroundings. Sharing the moments on X Azad wrote: “Just arrived in Srinagar to a heartwarming reception from the snow! Enjoyed a wonderful morning with my wife, shaping snowballs in the garden of our home! #Kashmir.”

Former PDP leader Naeem Akhtar promptly reacted, expressing,  “Nice seeing Shameem ji and Azad saheb in a frolicking mood. Best wishes”

While inquiring about the well-being of Azad’s wife Shameema Azad, Nayeema Mehjoor  former Chairperson of State Commission for Women (SCW)  posted on X, “I hope Shameema ji is fine.”

Shameema Azad has been unwell for a considerable period and has not recorded any new tracks recently.
