Authorities on Friday announced that all schools in Kashmir valley will remain closed on Saturday in view of the flood threat.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan said that “class work in all schools of Kashmir Valley shall remain suspended tomorrow in view of the flood like situation caused due to the incessant rains.”

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure, he said

Earlier, the flood was declared in south Kashmir parts after water level crossed the danger mark of 21 ft at Sangam in Anantnag district on Friday evening.

Mir Muhammad Shahnawaz, chief engineer Irrigation, and Flood control said flood has been declared in south Kashmir.

He said the water level in Jhelum at Sangam has crossed the danger mark of 23.02ft. “At 9 pm, the water level in Ram Munshibagh was 16.23 ft,” he said.
