Income Tax department attaches Geelani’s Delhi property


The Income Tax department has issued an order for the attachment of a property owned by Hurriyat (g) chairman Syed Ali Geelani in New Delhi, media reports said on Monday.

“Whereas the assessing officer has sent to the
undersigned a certified copy of the certificate specifying an amount of Rs
3,62,62,160 plus interest is recoverable from you,” reads an order issued by Income
tax department to Geelani.

According to the order, the Hurriyat chairman has been prohibited
and restrained until further orders from transferring the property in Malviya
Nagar in south Delhi.
