SRINAGAR: Income Tax Department on Thursday conducted multiple raids at different locations in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
Sources told news agency KDC, that Income Tax department sleuths accompanied by police raided MS Mall on Residency road, City Walk Mall on MA road, showrooms and houses of some businessmen.
The locations that were raided included Rajbagh, Nishat, Sariabal, MA Road and some other parts.
“The purpose of the raids was not immediately known, however, sources said that the reason behind these raids is tax evasion,” they said.
Pertinently, MS Mall belongs to the Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah son of Haji Mohd Shafi Shah of Rajbagh and City Walk Mall is owned by two partners namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Kawoosa son of Ghulam Qadir of Nishat and Manzoor Ahmad Shah son of Haji Mohammad Shafi of Rajbagh.
Some important documents and digital equipment were seized, reported news agency KDC.
