SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said India has established a firm new red line against terrorism, warning that any attack on the country’s soil will be considered an act of war and will invite a strong and decisive response.
Addressing the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the 77th Republic Day celebrations in Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor described Operation Sindoor as a landmark shift in India’s national security approach, underscoring the nation’s determination to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens.
He paid tributes to freedom fighters, martyrs and security personnel, stating that the sacrifices of the Indian Army, paramilitary forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police continue to preserve the country’s unity, integrity and security.
Reiterating the government’s stance, Sinha said terrorism whether sponsored from across the border or operating internally will be eliminated completely.
Highlighting developments since 2019, the Lieutenant Governor said Jammu and Kashmir has entered a new phase of transformation, with justice being delivered to families affected by terrorism and new opportunities opening up for youth through merit-based recruitment, entrepreneurship and skill development initiatives.
He said employment is now being provided to victims of terrorism rather than to those linked with militant activities.
Outlining progress across sectors, Sinha cited double-digit economic growth, large-scale infrastructure expansion, enhanced rail and road connectivity, advances in power generation, agricultural reforms, industrial growth, revival of tourism, education reforms, improved healthcare facilities and increased women-led development. He added that Mission YUVA has strengthened youth entrepreneurship, while transparent governance and digital reforms have improved public service delivery.
Calling for unity against terrorism and drug abuse, the Lieutenant Governor expressed confidence in the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and urged all sections of society to work collectively towards a peaceful, developed and prosperous Union Territory.
He concluded by extending Republic Day greetings to the people and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to inclusive development, lasting peace and sustained progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
The 77th Republic Day is being celebrated across the nation today.
