SRINAGAR: Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said India needs a “real revolution” and asserted that Gen Z was beginning to lead a change in the country’s political discourse.
The president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) made the remarks while reacting to the rapidly growing online meme movement operating under the banner of the “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP).
In a post on X, Mufti said young people were increasingly refusing to be “trapped in hatred, division and manufactured politics”.
“India needs a movement, a real revolution, and perhaps Gen Z is finally beginning to lead that change. For the first time in a long while, one can see some light at the end of the tunnel,” she wrote.
The former chief minister said the emerging online discourse reflected a shift among younger generations towards political engagement beyond conventional narratives.
