Srinagar: Reacting to the India’s Permanent Representative in the UNHRC’s statement that Pakistan’s references to UN Security Council resolutions are grossly misleading as Pakistan was required to vacate the parts of the Pakistan Administered Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Thursday alleged that it is India which is misleading the international forum and is indulging is baseless and malicious campaign against Pakistan.
In a statement issued here, the chairperson of DeM, Aasiyah Andrabi said, “Pakistan has always showed willingness to hold a plebiscite, in the otherwise, content PaK and it is India that has repeatedly and unwarrantedly declined the right to the people of Kashmir.”
She said that the Indian representative has claimed that the situation in Kashmir is normal, however, she said, “The situation in Kashmir has never been normal since 1947.”
In the presence of 10 lac troops stationed in Kashmir, how can a sane mind claim that the situation is normal, Mrs Andrabi said.
She emphasised on Pakistan to handle the Kashmir issue carefully and present it at the international forum more vociferously.
“Pakistan should present the Kashmir issue in its historic perspective. It should remind UN of its promises on Kashmir and also remind it that it is the unfinished agenda of United Nations and Pakistan as well.”
She said that Pakistan has historically had a soft stand towards Kashmir and it has as ever been ready to hold a plebiscite in Pakistan Administered Kashmir. “Even through the people of PaK never demanded that a plebiscite should be held there and they are living happily with Pakistan, but still, Pakistan has shown a bold approach and big heart when it comes to Kashmir issue,” she said.
However, she said, “It is India that is not serious in resolving the Kashmir issue in its historical perspective and is involved in massive human rights violations and is depriving the people of Kashmir of Right to Self-Determination.”
Mrs Andrabi said that if India is claiming that Pakistan is misleading UN about the rights violations in Kashmir, United Nations should send a fact finding mission to Kashmir to appraise about the gross human rights violations in Jammu &Kashmir.
