Miriwaiz Umar Farooq sepaking in Bar Seminar on Dec 10

While terming human rights violations in the state as the ‘biggest challenge’ for the people of Kashmir, Hurriyat (m) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday said that Indian Judiciary can’t pass their comments or judgment on Article 370 or 35 A.

While speaking to a gathering at a seminar held by Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association here, Mirwaiz said, “we are thankful to the people of Kashmir for playing a vital role in the freedom struggle. The rising human rights violations have thrown a big challenge before the Kashmiris to face, which even the United Nations (UN) has failed to protect.”

Mirwaiz said that the Kashmir issue should be looked in the interests of people. “We should reach out to the human rights forum to ask them for protecting Kashmiris rights, which are being snatched till yet,” he said.

He said that people of Kashmir have bore “many violations so far by the forces, which are highly condemnable and should be stopped at earliest”.

Terming the Jammu and Kashmir as globally accepted dispute, Mirwaiz said that Indian Judiciary can’t pass their comments or judgment on Article 370 or 35 A.

Mirwaiz was referring at the Judiciary over its intervention into the political issue of the state by admitting an appeal on Article 35 (a).

Mirwaiz said, “I am on record saying it that Kashmir is a globally accepted dispute. No judiciary can intervene on the constitutional provisions of the state that are directly linked with the political dimension of the problem.” (KNS)
