According to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror, with hotel rates in the city reaching an all-time high, fans have started seeking alternative accommodations, even in hospital rooms.

Media reports reveal that on October 15, hotel room prices in Ahmadabad have surged by more than 20 times, with some rooms costing more than Rs 59,000. Notably, the ITC’s Welcomhotel in Ahmedabad was charging a staggering amount of Rs 72,000 on the day of the match. Several other hotels, including TC Narmada and Courtyard by Marriott, had no vacancies in the city during this cricketing extravaganza.

Dr Paras Shah, a hospital professional in Ahmadabad, shared with Business Standard that individuals are requesting full-body check-ups and overnight stays in hospitals as an economical alternative to lodging, while also ensuring their well-being. Fans are reportedly willing to occupy any available room, ranging from deluxe to suite, just to witness the epic Indo-Pak match. Dr Shah also emphasised that his hospital has limited rooms, leading them to be cautious about accepting advance bookings from non-resident Indians (NRIs), as they prioritize patient care and do not wish to compromise the availability of rooms needed for medical purposes.

This trend of fans reserving hospital rooms to catch the India-Pakistan match is gaining popularity, prompting more hospitals to design special health packages to cater to this demand.

In addition to the India vs Pakistan clash, Ahmadabad is set to host the opening match of the tournament between defending champions England and Zealand on October 5, along with the tournament finale on November 19. The city is gearing up for an exhilarating cricketing extravaganza that fans are determined not to miss, even if it means unconventional lodging arrangements.
