SRINAGAR
As suspected militants attacked CRPF party along with polling staff when it was coming back after culmination of polling in South Kashmir’s Shopian area, one of the polling official who was critically injured succumbed to his injuries.
Identified as Zia Ul Haq and teacher by profession, he was a resident of Hirpora Shopian. Five people including 2 CRPF personnel and one police personnel also were injured in the militant attack. The injured have been identified as Sundeep Kumar (CRPF man), Vicky Kumar (CRPF man),Ghulam Nabi (Police man) and Manzoor Ahmad (Polling official).
Police officials confirmed the death and further said that army swung into action and cordoned off the area. They added that polling staff members in the area have been shifted to safer places and the operation against suspected militants was going on when the reports last came in.
