At least seven civilians and a policeman were injured when unknown persons lobbed a grenade towards a police party at Batapora Chowk in south Kashmir Shopian district on Monday morning.
Reports said the grenade missed the target and exploded on the roadside, leaving seven civilians and one policeman injured.
In the incident, seven civilians and a Policeman sustained splinter injuries, said.
The injured civilians were identified as Mohammad Maqbool son of Abdul Aziz a resident of Ganapora Balapora, Mohammad Ismail son of Bashir Ahmad a resident of Sangarwani Pulwama, Fareeda wife of Nazir Ahmad, Nadiya daughter of Nazir Ahmad both residents of Sedow, Farooq Ahmad Malik a resident of Tachloo, Javid Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohidin Pulwama, Mir Azim son of Javid Ahmad Mir Rajpora Pulwama.
The injured cop was identified as Javaid Ahmad son of Noor Din a resident of Baramulla.
All the injured were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where from two injured were shifted to Srinagar in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off.
