Government Tuesday informed the upper house that it has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the allegations of molestation against a doctor at GMC Jammu.

Health Minister, Bali Bhagat, was responding to the queries raised by some members in the house, who were demanding a time-bound inquiry into the matter.

The Health Minister informed the house that a FIR has already been registered against the accused doctor, even as a departmental inquiry instituted to probe the allegation has been asked to submit its report within 10 days.

The Minister said the accused doctor has already been put under suspension pending inquiry. He said the law will take its own course and the guilty, whosoever, will face action as per the law.

Pertinently, the government had Monday suspended Professor Forensic Medicine GMC Jammu, Dr Bupesh Khajuria.

The decision came within a day after four lawmakers from Ladakh met the Chief Minister asking her to act in a case in which a Ladakhi student was molested. After the meeting, in which Ms Mufti assured them action, Congress issued a statement saying they have demanded stern action against the culprit, “a senior doctor of the forensic department of GMC Jammu.”
