S R Samuel, an IPS officer of the J&K cadre has passed away on Friday morning.

The spokesman said Samuel was presently on a deputation to Government of India as Joint Development Commissioner MSME, passed away this morning after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest at New Delhi.

Samuel had served various important posts which include SDPO Chrar-i-Sharief, ASP Jammu, AD SKPA Udhampur, SSP Leh and CO IRP 13th Bn.

Meanwhile, Governor N N Vohra and Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti have expressed grief over the death of S R Samuel.

In a message, the Governor and chief minister have prayed to the Almighty for granting peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.

A condolence meeting was also held by Jammu and Kashmir police in memory of S R Samuel, a 99 batch IPS Officer of J&K Cadre who left for heavenly abode.

The condolence meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir S P Pani, DIG CKR V K Birdi, SSP PCR Kashmir Shahid Mehraj, SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail, SSP Traffic Tahir Saleem and other senior officers. The officers expressed their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. This was followed by observing two minutes of silence as a mark of respect.
