Iran–US Talks End Without Breakthrough

SRINAGAR: Negotiations between Iran and the United States held in Pakistan have ended without an agreement, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported, confirming earlier statements by US Vice President JD Vance.

The agency said that what it termed Washington’s “excessive demands” prevented both sides from reaching a common framework.

“They have chosen not to accept our terms,” Vance said at a press conference, adding, “We leave here with a very simple proposal — a method of understanding that is our final and best offer. We will see if the Iranians accept it.”

The development comes four days after Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week ceasefire to facilitate further negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.

State broadcaster Press TV reported that major points of disagreement included passage through the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme.
