MLA Langate and President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) Er Rasheed Tuesday welcomed the High Court direction to state government regarding upholding the honour and dignity of state flag and expected that the process will begin from the High Court itself by ensuring that the state flag is hoisted with full state honours on the High Court Complex.

A party statement said that its president condemned Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal for opposing the return of power projects to the state.

In a statement Er Rasheed said, “Goyal’s remarks reflect the biased and colonial mindset of New Delhi towards J&K. By saying that rules of game cannot be changed, Goyal cannot hide the facts as the Working Groups under Chairmanship of Ragan Rajan and other various committees have very often recommended revisiting of the agreements between NHPC and state government,” adding, “however, the successive Union governments have never implemented these recommendations.”

“If Goyal says that rules of the game cannot be changed then how could New Delhi dare to change everything in the dirty game when J&K was forced to accede Union of India and after 1947 till date New Delhi has always made rules of its choice and changed everything by snatching what so ever came its way visa viz Kashmir.”

Rasheed added, “Goyal’s revelations that state should encourage investors in the power sector from outside don’t carry any weight as the state can itself invest by getting loans from various banks and also the local corporate sector is competent enough to do it if given a chance. The NHPC is being seen like East India Company in J&K and Goyal needs to refresh his memory by going through the notorious Indus Water Treaty, in which J&K state has been deprived of its basic rights.”

He further added that the denial of Goyal is not only “adding salt to the injuries of Kashmiris” but also has exposed the so called “Agenda of Alliance”.

“The current PDP BJP alliance had clearly mentioned in its ‘Alliance for Agenda’ document that Dulhasti and Uri-I will be given back to the state and the betrayal doesn’t have any justification. Mufti Sahib needs to tell people, if keeping mum and surrendering every issue is the crux of ‘Agenda of Alliance’,” he said.

He also criticised deputy Chief Minister who holds the portfolio of power department for his “criminal silence” over the issue during the meeting.
