Islamabad Election Update: Clashes Erupt in Old Town

islamabad election dayStone pelting clashes erupted in Old town of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district where polling is going on since morning.

Reports reaching here said that intense stone pelting is going on in Malakhnag area with local youth clashing with forces, who have been deployed in strength to prevent any untoward incident during the polling.

Notably, all the major separatist groups have called for “election boycott”.

The Islamabad assembly segment fell vacant after the death of former CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

His daughter and present CM, Ms Mehbooba Muffti is contesting the elections, besides seven other candidates from different parties.
