Hilal shahIn the on-going poling process in Islamabad segment, women have taken a lead at many places in the peripheries.

In the polling Booth at Muniwar B, total votes polled is 476.  Among them 237 have been polled by males while 239 have been polled by females.

For Shiraza, 35, there is no reason to stay back home when there is a female candidate in the fray.

Woman were seen participating in polls in large numbers across the assembly segment.

Shiraza said, “I voted for Mehbooba Ji. Being a woman she can understand our problems better. Had I voted for any other party it would have gone waste.”

The total voter turnout till 3 pm was 23801. In the 28% vote share, females have polled 10853 votes while males have polled 12948 votes.

Reports said that the mood in the majority of the booths suggested an edge to the incumbent Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti.

However, political pundits and scribes didn’t rule out the “close cut battle” from Congress’ Hilal Shah.

Meanwhile, officials said that Wantrag area has recorded the highest turnout of 71% till 3 pm while Hazratbal C and Qazibagh have polled the lowest percentage of votes 6%.
