SRINAGAR: Israel and Iran on Tuesday accepted a ceasefire proposal brokered by United States President Donald Trump, bringing an end to a 12-day conflict that heightened tensions across the Middle East. The agreement came shortly after Tehran launched a final wave of missiles targeting Israel, which killed at least four people, and Israel carried out pre-dawn airstrikes on multiple sites in Iran.
The deal followed a limited Iranian missile strike on a US military base in Qatar, which reportedly triggered renewed diplomatic efforts led by Washington.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the ceasefire was reached in coordination with the US and confirmed during a late-night meeting of Israel’s security cabinet. He stated that Israel had accomplished all key objectives of the operation, including damage to Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure, military leadership, and strategic assets.
“Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire,” Netanyahu said.
