The 75-year-old leader experienced severe illness during the night, with doctors diagnosing him with inflammation of the intestines and dehydration. He is currently receiving IV fluids as part of his treatment. “In accordance with his doctors’ instructions, the prime minister will rest at home for the next three days and will manage state affairs from there,” said his office in a statement.

His current illness has caused the corruption trial against him to be postponed once again, with the next court appearance not scheduled before September due to a summer recess in the court system, as per a Times of Israel report.

The trial has been delayed multiple times since it began in May 2020, as the Israeli premier requested postponements, initially citing the war in Gaza and subsequently the conflict with Iran and Lebanon. The Israeli PM will now rest at home for the next three days and manage his work affairs from there.
