Trooper of ITBP posted at DPL Shopian who was injured when his service rifle accidentally went off on Saturday evening is dead. His body is being transported to his home after the mandatory post morten was conducted early Sunday.
Identified as Constable Sham Yadav, he is from ITBP B coy that is stationed at DPL Shopian. Police said he received a bullet injury on his stomach allegedly by misfire by his own INSAS rifle inside the barrack at District Police Line (DPL) Shopian.
The injured trooper was rushed to a hospital where his condition was initially stable. Hospital sources said he reached the hospital at 12:30 in the midnight. He died shortly later.
Sunday morning, the doctors carried out the autopsy of the dead paramilitary man. He was later sent to his home.
