A debut novel “The Escaped Moments” authored by Kashmir University’s post-graduate student (in Literature), Jaasindah Rafiq Mir (24) was released at varsity’s Ghandi Bhawan on Thursday.
Prof Talat Ahmad, vice chancellor KU was chief guest on the occasion. He termed the author different from others.
“She approached me once and told me to have a look at her writings,” Prof Talat told audience. “I saw a different spark in her writing style. And knew, she would make it a big.”
The novel is about a fifteen-year-old small town girl, Aatirah who has underwent a lot of tragedies right from her birth. She is a character who has antipathy not only to her life but her dad, step mother and her cruel step brother.
“Besides this, Aatirah has many troubles but behind the drapes, the conclusion of this novel goes like this; would Atirah be successful at grabbing the freedom of her heart by opening it up or still does she have a desire of having a friend who confides her,” Jaasindah said in her speech.
But before throwing light into her novel, she recalled an incident wherein certain person had cast a doubt on her ability to pen down the novel. “But I assured the person that I will do it,” she said. “I am victorious today after a lot of rejections!”
At last, Jaasindah was honoured by a momento by Prof Talat. Presently, she is writing her second novel, The Kohl Girl.
