After he resigned as J&K’s Advocate General during Governor’s Rule in February, Jehangir Iqbal Ganaie Friday joined the office again.

He was engaged as by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led PDP-BJP government to head its lawyer group.

However, during N N Vohra’s time, he submitted his resignation from the post on 12 February.

Confirming his joining back as Advocate General of J&K, Jehangir told Kashmir Life, “Yes, I have joined as advocate general.”

Replying to a question on his priorities, the Advocate General said that defending petition in Supreme Court on Article 35 A would be his main focus.

He added, “there is another petition filed in High Court against the government’s decision to remove ‘dead wood’. This would also be high on priority list.”

Defending government’s decision, Advocate General it as necessary step to curb corruption and it would be on top of his agenda.

“There are also Public Interest Litigations (PIL) pending with regards to preservation of Dal, Food Security Act (FSA) and other cases,” said the Advocate General.
