According to official data, only 78 samples were found contaminated, mainly due to turbidity caused by seasonal rainfall. Remedial action was taken in 76 cases, achieving a 98 percent correction rate well above the national average of 62 percent.

Water quality testing in the Union Territory is carried out through a network that includes two Union Territory-level and 20 district-level NABL-accredited laboratories, in addition to 76 sub-divisional testing facilities.

For the ongoing financial year 2025–26, around 25,000 samples have already been tested, with no reported cases of contamination to date.

The department has stated that the water supply remains safe and is regularly monitored through an established system. It also assured that any temporary issues, such as turbidity, are addressed promptly through defined protocols.
