The Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday while ridiculing the recent remarks of the former RAW chief AS Dulat asserted that the organisation has never remained part of electoral process after the onset of militancy in Kashmir.

JeI chief Mohammad Abdullah Wani told KNS that the entire cadre of Jama’at was always intimated and directed not to take part in elections and not to vote for any political party. “We have already made it clear that Jama’at has nothing to do with the elections which are taking place in Kashmir. We publically ask our cadre at the time of polls of not take part in poll process. We do not know how such revelations are made sans any proof,” Wani said.

He added that any assertions made by Dulat are incorrect and not based on facts. “The claims which Dulat in his book has made have no ground at all,” said JeI chief.

Reacting over the allegations made by the former chief minister Omar Abdullah that it was Jama’at which helped PDP to win elections in Kashmir, JeI chief said that the standing policy of his organisation is that polls should be out rightly rejected. “How could there be even an iota of confusion into the issue when we ourselves have made it clear that our cadre must not take part in polls,” Wani said.
