A one-day convention of Central Advisory Council of Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir was held Tuesday at its headquarters which was presided over by Ameer-e-Jama’at Ghulam Muhammad Bhat.

In the meeting, besides discussing the party affairs, the present global situation with particular reference to the situation prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir was thoroughly assessed.

As per a statement while reiterating its avowed stand to the Kashmir issue, this reality was brought forth that unless the Kashmir issue is permanently resolved according to the aspirations of the people concerned, there is no other way to get rid of the prevailing uncertainty in the Indo-Pak sub-continent or to establish stable peace or fulfill the dream of development and prosperity of the poor people.

“At the end of the meeting, following resolutions were unanimously passed:

  1. This representative body pays rich tributes to those persons who were shot dead by the Indian forces and agencies during the ongoing peaceful public movement and also expresses its deep sympathy for the bereaved families. It also expresses total solidarity with thousands of injured persons and wishes their speedy recovery. Further, it impresses upon unconditional release of all those persons who have been detained during the current movement or before that for supporting the Kashmir cause and also expresses total solidarity with them.
  2. This representative body while highlighting the disputed nature of J&K, impresses upon the Indo-Pak governments to take effective steps for the final and just resolution of Kashmir issue either as per the UN resolutions or by holding tripartite talks between India, Pakistan and the real representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as the basic party and find a just solution of this long-pending human problem which represents the people’s aspirations. Without resolving this issue, there are no chances of establishing the stable peace and prosperity in the vast region of this sub-continent and maintenance of good neighbouring relations between the two nations which have been witnessing uncertainty since 1947.
  3. This representative body expresses its deep concern over the blatant violations of human rights at the hands of Indian forces and other agencies which have made the life of the civilians a hell as their person, property and honour remains at stake throughout and they have been also deprived of the freedom of speech and personal liberty. The institutions meant for the protection of human rights on international and local levels are appealed to take effective steps for stopping this violation.

4.  This representative body vehemently appeals the Muslim Ummah in particular the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir to follow the Islamic principles and teachings in all aspects of individual and collective life so far as possible and give up all vices and indecent practices like obscenity, dishonesty, cheating, bribery, blackmailing etc and as such play its part in reviving the glorious past of the Ummah.”
