Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday took strong exception to Jamat-e-Islami statement claiming property donated by Syed Ali Gelani to Milli Trust.

In a statement, spokesman of the Hurriyat (G) said, “The statement issued by Jama’at-e-Islami about the establishment of Milli trust and the transfer of property to it, is far from reality and it has no legal or ethical basis.”

The spokesman said that during a meeting of Milli Trust presided over by Syed Ali Geelani at Hyderpora on Tuesday, the objectives and goals of the Trust were discussed and the future course of action and strategy was also deliberated.

“During the meeting, it was deliberated that the trust will remain active for the sacred goals of Islam, freedom and unity and irrespective of race, colour, religion, language and party interests, will try its level best to serve the people on the basis of brotherhood and humanity.”

The spokesman said that the Trust will also try to build a unanimous opinion against the evils in the society and will also continue to do a peaceful jihad against the social evils.

“During the session, while lauding the decision of Geelani to transfer his Hyderpora residence, Hyderpora office building and Millat Publications to Milli Trust, it was also discussed that this historic decision should serve as an example for others and, whosoever has established assets in the name of Kashmir cause, instead of utilizing them for individual and party purposes, should dedicate them for the collective good of nation and people, in addition, it was also discussed that every individual of the nation should have every right to be informed and ask questions about it.”

It was also said during the session that in order to clear the confusion and propaganda created by some vested interests of India and its agents about the J&K’s revolutionary, political as well as religious organizations, the solution lies in that everything should be clean and transparent and nothing should be hidden from people.

The spokesman said that the transfer of property is a historic decision and it should be seen as gesture of political character and enlarged contribution.  During the meeting, in addition to the framework of Milli trust, it was also said that where the trust is currently estimating the needs of orphans, helpless, widows and handicapped, it also has an educational policy in pipeline through which it will also ensure that children will be provided with standard education about the religion and other subjects.

In the session it was also said that during the first phase, for the purpose of freedom struggle, religion and society, a plan of constructing a big and expansive hall on the name of Allama Iqbal (R.A) is being discussed and the work on it will be started in the near future.

While appealing to the well-off people for their contribution in this regard, Chairman Milli Trust Geelani also said that the trust has an extensive plan in mind for which there is a dire need of monetary help. The functioning, dealings, and accounts including the profits and expenses of the trust will be open and clear and everyone has the right to have information about it and at the same time criticize it for its shortcomings.
