SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has temporarily removed its initial list of candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections from its official website shortly after its release due to controversy over some of the names included.
The original list featured 44 candidates but was quickly withdrawn.
Media reports indicate that a revised list will be issued following a meeting at Amit Shah’s residence.
Key names included Er Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi from Pampore, Mohd Rafiq Wani from Anantnag West and Devender Singh Rana from Nagrota among others.
The elections to the 90-member JK Assembly will be held across three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Results will be announced on October 4.
